Cable and Harness API

Cable and Harness API

Can we get an exposed and documented API for cable and harness environment? I have half a dozen electrical engineers who spend half their time doing things that should be automated. Generating wire run reports, nailboards, etc. It's frustrating that C&H seems like such an afterthought that it's only marginally usable in its current state. It's such an afterthought I can't even give this post a category tag of Cable and Harness.

It should be possible to get to the RefDes of a cable & Harness connector part through the API.

it would make placing and getting data out of a harness assembly a lot easier (through code)

I would like to have cable lengths extracted through the API.

Thanks

Hi,

The Inventor API needs the support of the Cable and Harness environment.

Many thanks,

@Discussion_Admin, please move it to the Inventor Ideas site. Don't no, why it is under the Inventor Forum instead.

Many thanks,

I am trying to automate the cable segments through vb.net but I didn't find declaring functions? Please can anyone help me out from this issue.

Now there is no API provided for cable harness. I suppose this should be a API requirement here. Many thanks!

Thanks for your response @Yijiang.Cai

Is there any planning for such an API in the future? I would like to programmatically create cable and harness features in Inventor.

Many thanks for posting the idea to us, and tracked as [INVGEN-91830]

Hi, I support this idea as the cable & harness inside current Inventor Electromechanical is quite limited and we will need a new API to automate the workflow (for instance, manual insertion of each pins & creation of main hardness for large complex assembly). Thank you!
