Wrapping band around piston.

What is the best to wrap a band around a round shape. I need to wrap a hyd. piston band around the piston. I have drawn the shape with the proper length, and shape where the ends will meet, but what do I do next?
I realize I could revolve a simple shape, but I need to show how the ends meed.
Thanks,
Jason

You could also try drawing the profile and then use the Contour Flange
tool, just leave a tiny gap between the ends and it will unfold.

Another approach is to model the part in the Modeling mode (make sure
the thicknesses are the same as your sheet metal thickness), then switch
to Sheet Metal mode to unfold.
