Inventor doesn’t have a lot of color controls. But there is a tool in the SDK folder which will allow you to change the color of all work planes. Please note before I go any further that as noted this tool is not supported by Autodesk so other then the location of it. I can’t supply much more help. This tool will change the color of all workplanes, there is no option for just the user work planes.
You can find the tool under the SDK folder. You will need to expand the UserTools by double clicking on the UserTools.msi file. This will extract the files to a UserTools folder. Under that folder you will want to look at the ColorSchemeEditor. Please read the readme.txt file first. The executable is under the for Windows XP C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2012\SDK\UserTools\ColorSchemeEditor\Bin folder. Under Windows 7 it would be C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2011\SDK
