Work Planes HELP!

I can't seem to get these to work like they show in the book I'm
following. I want to create a work plane down the center of a shaft and
I can't seem to be able to do this. I have a tutorial that I'm following
but the options that say should come up don't. So what I would like to
find is a tutorial that is up to the Rev. 6 or a little instruction as
to how to get the darn thing to rotate 90 from the end of the shaft and
then move it to the center.

Also how when you slice the graphics reuse the edges that are shown but
you can't make things coincidental to them?

Thanks for the help, Rich

Place a work axis in the center of shaft. Make a work plane by selecting the work axis and an origin plane or another plane that is parallel to shaft. If the center of the shaft is constrained to the orgin you can use an origin plain as a work plane.
