Wiki help retiring – Making way for fresh new look

Thank you for your patience as we transition from the Autodesk Wiki online Help pages to a new online Help environment. In this new environment you should enjoy improved performance and search options, along with a fresh new look.

Once the new learning environment is online, you will be redirected to it automatically when you access the Help from within your Autodesk product.

We are excited to bring this new learning environment to you and we look forward to your participation and comments. Stay tuned for our announcement when the new environment goes live.

Thanks and Regards,

The Mechanical Design Learning Experience team

Online help is great EXCEPT for us folks who spend a lot of time in the field working on laptops with no access to the internet.

Change the default value  - UseOnline="1" - to - UseOnline="0"

The value '1'  - This will always launch the online help by default

The value '0' - This will always launch the local help by default

We are experiencing some performance issues on the site due to extremely high traffic and content volume and are working on some infrastructure upgrades to handle the situation. We hope to return the site to high performance soon. We appreciate your feedback.

The new online environment should address these issues.

Thank you, and again I am sorry these problems are occuring.

Performance issues??? Ya Think???

Why is there no way to download the tutorials (not the data set -- the actual tutorial text)?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the "downloadable" help needs to be the "installed with Inventor" help.

When I'm in Inventor 2013 Pro and hit F1 I still go to WikiHelp? Do I need to do anything to get to the new help site?

One more note: When the new site is live, you will be directed to the new site from within Inventor. There is nothing you need to configure.

Please let me know of any other questions.

Thank you,

Come on Autodesk - what do we do NO WIKI-HELP, NO AUTO-REROUTE to the new help

How about you just issue a hotfix so were all singing from The same hymn sheet.

"...  improved performance and search options, along with a fresh new look."

Dear Autodesk,

This applies to all of your software, interfaces, and web sites:  Skip the "fresh new look" part.  Entirely.  We don't care about the look.  Seriously, we don't.  Make it work better.

Thanks,

Dedicated users everywhere

I couldn't agree more.

Looks are ALWAYS secondary to performance.

Not exactly.  The "look" is always important when you are using a graphical user interface.  If the look is garbage, then the UI is garbage, which makes it difficult to work.  For example if a work process involves clicking three buttons, and they are at the top of screen, bottom of screen, and on a floating palette, the look certainly impacts performance.  Same thing with a help system - how difficult will it be to find things if there is no table of contents?

Personally I'll take something that is harder to find or navigateover something that flat out doesn't work anyday.
