Why welding beads looks plain in Inventor 2014?

Hello, I just tried the weldment in 2014 and welding bead looks plain, like a simple chamfer. Is there any way to make it looks more realistic like 2012? Best regards, Orest Yavtushenko

That's a perfect description of a GROUND/MACHINED BACK weld.

Looking a the tree you have "Machining"  set to show you'll need to either edit the weldment and delete Machining or turn it of to get the "Caterpillar"

This has to do with the appearance for the weld bead, you don't have the "weldcat0.png" selected for the weld material.

You can also use the Material portion and change the Material to "Metal: Welded" or "Aluminum: Welded". These are already setup within the Material.

Weld beads texture is shown when

* You are using either Quality or Performance graphics

([Tools] tab - Options panel - Application Options - [Hardware])

* Texture On

  ([View] tab - Appearance panel)

Please note that you have to close all document windows first in order to switch App Options - Hardware settings.

Hope this helps

Yes it is working under the Perfomance.

I have enough powered machine but use Compatibility only.

I could see welding texture in the 2012 in the same mode.

May I ask you if there's a specific reason you are using compatibility mode?

Reason one

Under the Perfomance mode it is too dark and I cannot fix it with maximum brightnees of lighting settings.

Reason two

If I rotate the sectioned assembly it makes a whole mess with section, empty (like made of surfaces) solids and etc.

In the Compatibility mode everything works ok.
