Who's idea was the locked browser again?

I find I'm wasting alot of time searching for specific parts in the
browser. In previous releases one could drag parts around to group
them so that they were easily identified to relate to each other.

Now with the locked browser in 6, I find I'm WASTING TIME looking for
parts in the browser.

Just venting, but I'm pretty sure I'm not the lone user with this
problem.

OH, and another thing: When can we expect to be able to group parts
into subassemblies via dragging them in the browser? Heheh yea, right.

We all feel your pain (some more than others). Here are some options. If you can find the part in the model you can still RMB on the part and select "Find in browser". Although clunky for random searches you could also try the Find dialog box.

We're all hopeful the ability to organize assemblies will return in R7 but nobody from Adesk is willing to comment on it.

It would be GREAT if the browser would
automatically sort.

Hi Jon

I agree about the sorting in the browser. Really miss the ability

Am I miss reading what you are asking below. I seem to be able to drag parts into subs in
the browser just fine.

Here's what would be nice: The option to organize the browser into folders,
for example "fasteners", purchased parts, etc.).

You're right Kent. What was I thinking? Maybe it is new in this

1. Open my mouth.
2. Insert foot.

I find I do the "RMB on the part" routine frequently. Except when I've
turned off the visibilty or Enableibility (is that the correct
adjectival syntax?)- then I have to search the browser. 😞

Yes, that is a great idea.

Maybe you mean turn off visibility or disable the part. FAIK there is no
English word similar to your construction that means: the ability to enable.
I think you either enable or disable something. There is a word that sounds
similar inability, but I think that word was coined to describe my current
abilities (what I can't do). Professor Sean ... is this correct?

enabability - the ability to be enabled, sure

(not Enableibility)

In American English we are inventing new words every day. Actually I have
seen this word used many times before.

"Enabability"

You are right. You drop the 'e' when adding the "ility" I should have
looked this one up. Spelling once was my strong suit. 😉

Right: inability ... the things I can't do. But that wouldn't work for
disabling a part in the browser by un-checking the Enable check box, would
it? Turning off visibility and inability in the browser. I guess it could
be: ...turn off visibility and enabling..., eh?

It's been there, just a bit tricky sometimes. Make sure the receiver sub is
expanded, etc.

There's also a way to re-order the browser by dragging into and back out of
sub assemblies, but you loose assembly constraints. If you do want to insert
a batch of parts in mid-browser create a temporary sub in the assembly,
instance in the parts you want, return to upper level, drag the parts from the
temp sub to where you want them and delete the temp sub.

Now that would be a real timesaver. By unchecking the Inability
option, you could make the part non-visible, and non-enabled at the
same time.

Maybe this is a wishlist item? VBG
