Where is Alias Editor for Inventor at AU?

http://www.autodeskevents.com/au2010/index.cfm?event=voting.login

Maybe I missed something in the class descriptions. Where is Alias Editor for Inventor? I saw some Alias/Inventor interoperability classes, but nothing on the new Alias Editor for Inventor tools? Perhaps because Autodesk buried these tools. Too bad, they might have had something SolidWorks doesn't have.

Shekar Subrahmanyam and Rob Cohee are doing some stuff with the add-in
to Inventor at AU. Rob is also working on an article on free form
modeling for The Creative Inventor magazine due in June. Assuming he
meets his deadline, it will be there.

>Shekar Subrahmanyam and Rob Cohee are doing some stuff with the add-in ...

I searched on these two names and it didn't look like to me they are planning to cover this functionality (at least not in any meaningful way). The closest I could find is SID 9492 which seems to be all about transfering Alias files for use in Inventor.

Alias Editor for Inventor could be as important as Sheet Metal, Frame Generator, FEA, Feature Recognition or Dynamic Simulation environments (other class proposals) in my opinion. I doubt too many will be purchasing Alias Design to get at the Inventor tools, functionality that should already be in Inventor.

Doesn't look like students/faculty will have access to the tools either. As near as I can tell Alias Design is not included in the school packs.

Students/faculty can get the Alias Automotive for free, but no Alias Design, therefore no Alias Editor for Inventor.

They didn't just bury it, they took it out! You have to buy a full seat of
Alias at this point to get it.

I agree, this is absolutely needed as a basic part of Inventor for it to
stay competative in consumer products design.

I can't think of another Autodesk application where you purchase a second application to get tools that do not run in the second application (the second application already having appropriate tools), but only in the first application.

I think someone at Autodesk screwed this one up - I think they intended to have Alias Editor tools in Inventor but because Inventor is a second class citizen at AutoCAD, oops I meant Autodesk...

...in my opinion Carl should be replaced.

If only someone like Guillermo Melantoni was part of the Inventor team...
