Where does the DESCRIPTION come from in a BOM?

I just made my fir BOM on a small assembly, but I did not the description in
the default BOM for each part.

Ok in the part or an assembly file there is a thing called iproperties under that is a tap called project in there you will see a box called description. Thats the place it comes from. Message was edited by: Jim Letcher

The description comes from the "description" field in the parts iproperties on the Project tab.

To access iprops for a part.. Open the part file, click "file" button, then "Iproperties", then go to the project tab and enter the description and revision,etc...

Or you can simply (right mouse) click on the top most part (where it shows the parts file name) in the model browser and access the iprops there.

Or even easier when you are working in an assembly right mouse click on any part in the model browser and select "properties"

It usually comes from the description paramater in each ipt/iam file.

Minor terms note. The BOM is a tool in the assembly environment. Your picture shows a Parts List in an idw. The parts list is a window showing the BOM from the assembly file. Most data comes from the BOM tool to be displayed in the parts list. Data can be overwritten in the parts list. Some of that data can be written back to the BOM, where it will modify the iam file and possibly the ipt files.
