When applying a different color to a feature, it is not changing on screen

using IV 2012

example:

Part color is white

Extruded boss is set to black (but still is white)

It used to work before, just wondering why its not working now.

Attach the file here.
How many solid bodies in this file?

If you start a new file - can you reproduce the behavior?
Did you reboot the computer and the behavior persists?

i think i figured it out

i was creating new parts in an assembly, and if i open that part by itself, all the colors are as i had chosen, very strange.

Hi! I think you are seeing the coloring effect at different level. In assembly context, each component (subassembly or part as a whole) can have a color override, i.e. Part1:1 can be red and Part1:2 can be green. These color overrides are stored in the assembly file, not pushing to the part file for apparent reason (or Part1.ipt will not know which color to display, red or green).

The color overrides you did in the past were probably within the part file itself. I am not going into detail how it works and how each color override at a level works, since it could be confusing to you.

If you see a behavior that you do not understand other than the one you mentioned, please let me know.

Thanks!
