What is the best way to do assembly for bolted connection ?

Hi,

I am doing the assembly of Hydro Towers (seen on highways) and since the parts in the whole tower are bolted together, I usually do a mate constraint between them. But what I want to know is, Is there a way to put tolerances between the two wholes I am mating because the holes are usually not a perfect fit and we have 1/16" tolerance on each hole for the bolt to go through. But I do not know of a way to do that in Inventor assembly. I am using Autodesk Inventor 2011.

I have attached a picture below just to have an idea how my assembly is. In the picture it shows a perfect match but ususally there are places where I dont have that match. I have tried using tangent constraint but it does not work.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

AH.

Offset mate from centre axis of hole to flange.

If angles not parallel use centre point instead of axis.flange to hole axis.jpg
