VIEW REP

Hi,

(still trying to work with and under view rep better)

i design lot of assembly.  which would have assembly 1-bottom tool, assembly 1-top tool, assembly 2-top tool, assembly 2-bottom tool etc.  but, once everything is finished, i need to convert the entire assembly to machine shop by converting it in to STEP file.  But, the problem I have is, while creating this assembly I have created lot of parts which i used to create other parts but I am not using it in the assembly.  When ever I was creating view reps, I have switched the visibility off and saved the file.  But, now I have 300 different parts and atleast 30 plus parts i need to switch the visibility off while converting the file to .step or .xt files.

I thought if I am able to switch on 4 reps mentioned above, it becomes very easy for me to export the only required parts.  How to do it?  At present I am switching on the master view rep. and then switching all other unwanted parts off and exporting.  Any other ways?

I had some opportunity to work with other software and the desinger was putting all his unwanted items in a dedicated layer called Junks and he was able to switch on and off multiple assembly or layers at the same time.  Would I be able to play with view reps like that?

Your feedback would be much appreciated

You could use ShrinkWrap to export different view into one part, then export it as STEP file to machine shop.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  Sounds good.  Is there any video clip or a sample part to understand better.
