Video Card

I just purchased a new system with Windows xp. I am designing using inventor 5.3. All of the sudden
Inventor has started to lock up on me to where my screen goes blank. I have a ATI RADEON 9700 PRO
128 MEG DDR VIDEO CARD. Any idea's?

Why did you get a system with ATI? I hate to tell you but they don't have to good of a
track record with Inventor.

Is there a fix for the problem?

"Is there a fix

Put that (edited) Radeon 9700 gaming card into a
gaming machine (Man i would love one for my home comp), and buy a Nvidia card for you CAD machine. Any of the Geforce4 TI
series will work well, any of the Quadro4 series will be
great!

I just tested a Quadro 4 900XGL with an open GL Benchmark. It was ~3X
faster than my Geforce 2GTS ( according to the ratings the benchmark came up
with)

Sounds about right I went from a Powercolor Geforce2 GTS 32Mb to a Geforce4
TI4200 128Mb and it doubled everything, FPS in games, score in bench
marks,etc.

Cool. I think we came up with good enough numbers to justify the cost.

Some of the stuff I have been seeing about the new Nvidia chips I would
seriously consider holding off for a bit if you can.

My IT guy and I were discussing that today. He has a killer price on the
Quadro for 90 days - I think he is going to wait to see what happens with
the FX before he orders.

Yes, there is a fix for black spots appearing on
the screen on my machine. Updated to driver revision:

6193

and that seemed to fix it. Let us know how it works
out.
