Whenever I hide the vertical dimension and replace with text (on 2 lines) a bizarre thing happens......the text jumps down couple of lines below the dimension arrow (see attached).
This works fine on horizontal dims, just not vertical ones!
anyone know why? or how to overcome this?
I've played around with the dimension settings in style manager, but no joy.
Is it because you are using the Parallel Orientation in the Dimension Style?
You may also want to look at the Primary Text Style. Are you using Single Space paragraph settings?
Thanks,
I can confirm that I am using parallel orientation, and single space paragraph settings.
Are you saying that I should not be using these?
Please let me know.
I'm not 100% sure what the expected results is based on your description. I suspect you're looking for Dimension Style settings that will move the text position. One suggestion would be to use the "Inline - Vertical" style to move the text position.
Another setting that may All Above Landing or the First Above Landing setting in the Styel and Standard Editor, see image below.
Do changing these setting help you get the results you're looking for?
Thanks,
Thanks Nathan,
From looking at your post I believe that I had the settings you described already in place.
A further point to add (I dont belive I mentioned this earlier) is that the text jumps belw the dim line only when the text is centred (on vertical dimensions). See image.
I've incuded a screen shot of my dim settings.
I hope this offers some clarity.
Thanks for updating me and the additional screenshots. That makes it a lot more clear for me. I have tried a couple of different things, but I don't seem to be able to figure out the right combination of style settings that is causing this. Is there any way I could get a sample drawing from you?
You can use the Pack and Go command to copy all the required files. Uncheck the Skip Styles option to include your style library with the drawing. Zip the results up and send them to nathan.chandler@autodesk.com. I'll be happy to review the file and see if I can pinpoint the setting.
Thanks,
