v-shape bent sheet metal part

Hi,

I have a sheet metal part which is bend to a v-shape.

I want to have a cut out across the bend area.  How to project that in to a flat pattern and cut out the relative opening size in the part.

Thanks,

Rajesh.

Can you attach the file here?

There are two different techniques.

1. Start a new sketch on one of the flat faces.  (not on a workplane)  Click the Project Flat Pattern from the drop down under Project Geometry.  Sketch your cut profile and then Cut Across Bend option.

2. In later releases - Unfold (not to be confused with Flat Pattern).  Sketch your profile and Cut.  Refold (not to be confused with Fold).

Another option is to create the sketch, project it as a Surface, then Split and then Thicken/Offset. Then Flat Pattern. Cut edges will be perpendicular to the part Face.
