Using Make component does not generate thumbnails for new part.

I have been drawing multi bodies within a single ipt file, then using the command "make component", I extract all the individual bodies into seperate ipt files. It works well for me because that is so much faster than drawing individual ipt files and assembling them later on.

Now the irritating problem is that the new ipt files has no thumbnails. When I bring up the open file window in the inventor 2010 environment, the preview windows says preview not available. In iproperties under the thumbnail tab, it is also empty. Can someone teach me how to generate thumbnails for them?

Thanks

Rick

There is no thumbnail, bcause the part hasn't been opened and saved yet.

You could open and save each part to gereate the tthumbnail. You could automate this by using the task scheduler to run an update on each part.

Does anyone else have a suggestion?

Thanks.. It works if i resave it with changes.

However, if i just save without changing anything, the program is 'clever' enough not to generate a thumbnail.

I have to figure out the task scheduler thingy..

Thanks alot.
