Use a parameter from sub-assy

Okay...

I've got a large assembly, and one of the sub's is a rack-and-pinion
drive thingy. As I'm building, I drive the constraint for the rack to
move my big assy around. I want to add a constraint in the big assy
that references the value of the driven parameter in the sub. How can I
do this? My first attempts have me doing this:

max(Drive/d13-2.25-0.75;-0.75)

I place that in the constraint 'offset' for the parameter I want to
change. That's how I want it to behave. But, I can't get past the
"Drive/d13" part. That's not supposed to be a division, that's the name
I get for the parameter "drive" when I pause my mouse over it in the
browser.

Any ideas?
-Jason

Unfortunately you cannot access a sub's parameters in IV at this time.

You can make the sub adaptive them constrain the rack to the top level and
drive it this way.

Thanks... I'll stop trying for now.

I've had some succes using this methode:

1-Make a sketch in your top assembly, referencing geometry in sub-assys.
2- Make a driven dimension to "simulate" the dimension you wish (not always possible)
3- You now have the dimension accessible in the top assy.

Not sure if this helps in your case, but good luck.
