Update will not go away.

I have an assembly and the update button will not go away. I can hit it 50 times and it still is on signifying the assembly needs to be updated. The only way I can get it to grey out is to hit rebuild all.

Further, if i close and reopen the assembly, it states that it has changed and asks if it should update the assembly. Even though nothing has changed.

If I click yes and load the assembly, the update button is still on.

Any Suggestions?

Rich.

Build: 344b, Release: 11 SP2

Rebuild all. That is what I have been doing.

Save all: NOT A GOOD OPTION as there are numerous parts of the assembly that are from different versions and it saves each one individually. (That was painfull) This takes a long time to update plus it makes the files inaccessable to lower verisions as they are in a library.

There's the issue, "....numerous parts of the assembly that are from
different versions ..."

It will show needing update, as long as there are legacy parts in the
assembly.

Nope this has not solved the problem.

At least the update is greyed out, but every time I open the assembly I get the notice that the assebmly has changed. Even if i open then close then open right back up.

I have plenty of other assemblies with different parts. Not sure why this one is causing problems.

Anywhere else to look?

One thing to try is to go to Application Options->Save tab, check "Prompt to
save for re-computable updates" and "Prompt to save for migration". Without
this, sometimes you won't be prompted to save the subassemblies even if they
have been updated.

If that doesn't work, could you please e-mail me your dataset so I can take
a look?

1) I suspect that you need to go to Tools > Application Options... < Save tab and click the top 2 check boxes on the lef side. Make sure that the third one is cleared. I am guessing that these check boxes are (cleared by default) are over-riding save all. I also agree that a save that requires one to OK every single part is not useful.

Guys I have found the solution. In the Assembly go to File>Save As>Pack and Go. Here the system will ask you that one of the file needs edit before pack and go. Click ok and it will show you the part file with the problem. Open that part file from folder and update>Save. Come to assembly and there you see the update symbol is gone. BingoSmiley Very Happy

First of all did you realize this posting was 10 years old and the individuals that participated are not even active anymore.  In the future I might suggest that you create a new posting about this and indicate what version of Inventor you're using.

But Mark,

At least it brought Dennis Jeffrey's name back into the fold.

Lord I miss him. This board hasn't been the same since he passed.

Cheers,

Jim O'Flaherty

This forum for Inventor should be named the Dennis Jeffery Forum. Yes, I indeed do miss Dennis as well and our conversations on the phone.

Oooh...I like that!

Yeah, Dennis was the man. Miss talking to him as well.

He needs to be honored as far as I'm concerned.
