Unable to migrate 2013 *.adsklib to 2014

Hello,

Is there any way to upgrade an entire 2013 *.adsklib to 2014 version? Information given at

http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Inventor/enu/2014/Help/1283-Inventor1283/1284-Fundamen1284/1547-Materia...

....would seem to indicate the process is seamless...

Not the case....

When I navigate to the 2013 Design Data as indicated by the Material Style Migration dialog, the upper section is greyed out as shown. No Colors.xml or Materials.xml files exist. This displays whether I choose to create a new library or select an existing one (I get the feeling that this tool applies only to pre-2013 migration).

I am unable to proceed to the next step of migrating custom content center libraries, since many of the content items depend upon the custom materials/appearances definitions.

TIA

Your hunch is correct. The migrate feature is to migrate pre-2013 .xml files into the new material and appearance libraries in 2013 and beyond.

To migrate from Inventor 2013 to 2014, make a copy of your current 2013 .adsklib to become the new 2014 library. Making a copy is critical. If you share a Material or Appearance library between two different Inventor releases, unpredictable and unstable behaviors sometimes occur. This warning is in the release notes.

After you have a copy made, simply add the copied .adsklib file to the project file in 2014 using the step described in the below wikihelp page.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any further questions.

I had already completed the steps you outlined, but just to be certain I did not miss anything, I ran through it again. I created a new copy of the 2013 library and renamed it. I added the new library to the project, made it active and I end up with the same result. The library functions as it should in 2013:

Can you skip renaming the adsklib file, but only moving it to a new location?

Is your asdsklib file stored on a network drive? Is it possible to test from a local location?

Thanks,
