Hi

I have a few Valves as assembly files. Can these Valves be saved as Valves for use in the Tube`n`Pipe runs?

Thanks

James

James,

You can NOT author assembly files but you can shrinkwrap, derive to single part.

I have a valve assembly that I used to generate different size derived parts that I have authored. If you don't want it referenced to the assemlby (for vault check in ) then brake the link of the derived part.

Hi Adrian

Thanks for the info

How difficult was it to create all the different sizes?

How does the Derived part work and especially in your case of the Valve.I would like to create a similiar set up

Thanks

James

It was really easy. I have attached the project so you can see how the constrains were done, this allows you to change flange size and the number of bolts adjusts. You do need to change bolt size and length manually but it's on a pattern so .. seconds.

You open your assembly, do the changes, shrinkwrap, open the shwrinkwrap and suppres link, change the assembly, export again....etc.

Unfortunatelly you need to author each and every derived part. I don't have these in Content Center, just on disk but I keep a text file at hand with all this folder paths and when placing fitting I copy/paste the path for quick navigation.

This is how the tex document looks like, you can use excel if you want.

Hi Adrian

Thanks again

Would you have the ZIP files in Inventor 2014?

Thanks

James

Unfortunatelly NO.

Use autodrop to place the bolt, washer, nut. Then pattern with "Feature pattern reference" and pick the pattern of the holes on the flanges, this way if you change the size of the flanges, the number of bolts adjusts.

Use change size on flanges with "replace all" to change both and update all bolts, nuts, and washers.
