Tolerance text height

Hi, when I export .idw in autocad .dwg, the tolerance text height of dimensions with 'Limits/Fits-Show tolerance' change, becoming the same of the dimensions text, while the tolerance text height of dimensions without 'Limits/Fits-Show tolerance' remain the same of the .idw file. Why? There's something I can do, to ensure that text height no change? See the attached pictures that show the problem.

I use Inventor 2011 with SP1.

Thanks in advance.

Angelo.

No one knows how to solve the problem, if it is possible?

Many thanks in advance.

Change the tolerance text style to *Use Primary Text Style* in the dimension style you are using.

Hi John,

thanks for your suggestion, but I have tried with both the tolerance text style *Use Primary Text Style* than a customized tolerance text style. The result is the same. The problem is only on dimensions with 'Limits/Fits-Show tolerance': for example, see my new attached files.

Many thanks in advance.

Have a nice day.

Hi Angelo,

I’m going to report this problem to our development.

In the meantime, I hope you can find useful the workaround below.

When exporting the Inventor drawing as AutoCAD dwg, click on Options.

Options.png

In the Options wizard, click on Mapping Options.

In the next dialog, General tab, set DIMASOC to 0.

Hi, Alessandro

I know this workaround, but our customers do not accept exploded dimensions in the dwg drawings. However, it is an issue always existed in the save as dwg of inventor (I use it from R9 (2005)).

Many thanks.

Have a nice day.

Angelo.

Hi,

I've got the same problem in Inventor 2016.

Has anyone found a solution?

Or is it solved in later versions?

Regards, Silvia

Hi! I am not sure if the issue you are having is the same as the old thread. It sounds like you are looking for a way to change the tolerance text height. This can be done in two ways. 1) Go to Manage -> Style and Standard Editor -> fin the dimensional style of interest -> Text tab -> Tolerance Text Style -> you can select a desirable Text style with the text height you want or simply override the size. Many thanks!

Hi Johnson, thanks you for your suggestion, but the problem I have is exactly as described: my dims with tolerances are ok in Inventor (tolerances are smaller font than the dim itself), only when doing an export to dwg the tolerances will get the same font size as the dim.

Probably due to the fact that an AutoCAD dimension can have only one size (and I don't want to explode my dims in AutoCad).

Hi! I think the issue has been resolved in later Inventor releases (2018). The tolerance values can be exported correctly to AutoCAD dwg file.

Many thanks!

Hi! Exporting to ACAD DWG works fine for 'normal' dimensions and tolerances. But I'm still having some issues with dimensions with a tolerance used in a 'Break' view in Inventor. (Currently using Inventor 2020.4.3)

Dimension text size = 3 and the tolerance text size = 2;

rtoorman_1-1643101496902.png(Inventor screen shot)

After exporting to a DWG the full dimension from Inventor is inserted into the 'Text overrride'.

For instance "99\S+0.5^0", resulting in;

rtoorman_0-1643101395058.png (AutoCAD screen shot)

With both the dimension text as the tolerance text in the same size; 3.

Problem is that with arranged dimensions, the tolerance is now crossing the dimension line above it.

Manually changing the tolerance text size to 2, will have the desired result but is not very user friendly, because all the tolerances have to be change one by one.

However, the "Text override" is now; "99{\H0.66667x;\S+0.5^0;}"

Which now includes the hight factor of the tolerance compared to the dimension text size (2/3 = 0.66667).

Also the '+' in front of the lower limit is missing. But it seems that's only the case when the lower limit is '+0', when it's '-1' it  does come over correctly.

rtoorman_3-1643102794813.png rtoorman_2-1643102770505.png

But as you can see the suppression of the trailing zero's is also ignored.

Again this can be changed manually, which is also not desired.

The final "Text override" should be; "99{\H0.66667x;\S+0.5^+0;}"

It seems that with some modification to the build up of the "Text override" in the 'Export to DWG' routine, it should come over to AutoCAD correctly solving these issues.

Hopefully this can be resolved in a future update of Inventor.

With kind regards, Remco
