Title Block Prompts?

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to arrange the prompt entries of my
template to come up in the order I want?
or do I have to create them in the order I want cause that would sorta (Edited by moderator)?
Thanks
Jesse

Yes, it bites... they appear in the order they were created.

Unfortunetly you've got to create them in order

Thanks Guys!
Autodesk that's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Now I have to redefine a
dozen or so prompts darnit.
Thanks

you might try using custom properties instead, that way it doesn't matter on
order and you can also have the ones that don't change every time preloaded.

My Title Blocks only have one prompted entry, all the rest are
pulled from File Properties.

I agree. IMHO, the only thing that should use prompted entries is something
that could be different on two separate sheets within the same .idw file
(like scale and the drawing description). Everything else should (again,
IMHO) be obtained from either the file properties or custom properties.

Check out Sean's iProps Wizard, you may find you like that better than
prompted entries.

How do you get custom properties into a title block? I thought this was only
possible with a vba routine.

Easy...

Go to the Custom tab of the iProperties of the .idw file, and add custom
properties as needed.

In the title block, add a property field. In the Type drop-down, select
"Custom Properties - Drawing", and select the custom property you created.

Oops, I was thinking of bringing in a custom property from a part to a title
block. Different subject I think.

the only thing that should be in a prompted entries IMHO is the revision
block. Custom properties are really easy, in custom properties define
prompt name. Then go to the custom properties instead of drawing or part
properties when inserting a field in title block setup. Custom property
definitions will not show up until you define them upfront first.

In your template go to Tools>Document Settings>Drawing Tab.

About 1/2 way down under Custom Property Source select your part template
file. Check copy model properties and then Click on Properties and select
the custom props to bring over.

In your titleblock select Custom Properties - Model and select the linked
properties.

IMO the revision should come from the model properties...

I just swapped our title block to get part no, rev, material, etc etc etc
all right from the Part/Assm's custom iProperties. This is a real help. Now
we can look at the parts Iprops in the model/assm and sees its rev,
drawing/part number etc.
Take it from someone who just came from prompted entrys, this way is much
better 😉
