It is available in several locations.

How much training have you had in Inventor vs these other programs?

It works pretty much the same as in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Creo (Pro/E).

What other major software are you familiar with where you saw this functionality?

We should also distinguish between surfaces and faces (solids).

dude... i have more than 2yrs exp in autodesk inventor..... i knw in and out of inventor... plz look at the question which i have asked.... i am talking abt SURFACE...... create two surfaces perpendicular to each other and try to use draft, it doesnt work... it works in pro/e CREO.... this is vry vry important when am working with mold design (parting surface creation).....

Hi shuaib_cad,

Does the taper option shown in this image get you what you're after?

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Are you trying to do this manually?  There is a whole Mold environment for this and with a little adjustment I can get a runoff surface to orient the way I want.

dude... its not as simple as u are thinking.... i have more than 50 surfaces which is patched and stitched..... at the end of the day i want to apply draft for 5 or 6 faces.... it can not be done initially using the extude taper option....

am working on pattern plate creation for casting part..... is there any other solution??

Message 9 of 23

dude?

I'm not thinking it's simple. I just asked if that option helped with your goal. So far the details you've provided are a bit scarce. You might consider posting a screen shot or example file of what you're working on so that others can more effectively help you.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

This is trivial.
I suspect your screenshot does not reveal your true problem.

Attach your real problem (ipt file) here.
You should be able to get any trimmed planar surface at any angle you want.

Other surfaces are a bit more challenging, but without the real file....

This looks pretty simple.

Attach Inventor file here rather than images.

Do you have access to Inventor Tooling?

That's still an image file, not a part file.

Should be trivially easy to create a dummy example that doesn't give away any proprietary information but exhibits all the same behavior.
Even if you can't directly draft a surface like you can a face, it should be trivially easy to work around (especially for the planar surface you have pictured).

This is a peer-to-peer help forum.

The Inventor Wish list is over here http://www.augi.com

There is also a direct Autodesk link if you would like for me to look it up for you.

dude what u are seeing there is only a 1% of the whole project....

i have done the draft using manual options only (like deleting the face using 3d sketches to project the edges and patching it)....

its done.... but am looking for an easy way to do this.... it took a hell lot of time.... if there was an option for this it could be done in seconds....

I suspect there is a trivially easy solution - but you will have to make the effort to create and post an example that exhibits all of the behavior of your proprietary data.
