That's It !!!!!!

After trying out Inv 7 and finding
out that there are no customizable keyboard shortcuts I am switching permanently
to Solidworks.

Unless someone has found a way to add
keyboard shortcuts...??????

I still use Acad but I need to use a
keyboard!

SometimesI get a little confused as well (keyboard shortcuts) jumping back and forth between softwares, but theres no need to leave in haste. If thats your main reason for switching to SW then so be it, just beware of the memory leaks that are worse than what IV has, and the occaisional BSOD. Mike

Ok, I'll try to be helpful here. Anton, to do what you're wanting you'll have to install a 3rd party scripting/macro program. There's plenty free ones to choose from.

Hey that would be great because I
have never made Macros and where it must seem easy for an experienced user, that
is one aspect that I haven't tried.

Thank you

How many shortcuts do you really need?
My spaceball has 12 programmable buttons. I only use about 4 or 5 for what
I need.

Another option - get a used Gateway AnyKey keyboard from ebay (about $20
max) - you can then program keyboard shortcuts. (but it works for ALL
programs).

Basically I have a case of RSI that
is getting better but it occurred after a long period of using the mouse in
Inventor with a tight deadline, etc, etc.

So I need to use a combination of
keyboard and mouse, ie. for Acad I use as many keyboard shortcuts as I can (with
a reminder sheet beside my computer.)

Thanks

Anton,

Inventor does come with some predefined keyboard shortcuts. Type in "hot keys" in the Inventor help to get a list of them.

I you have RSI, (even if you don't), a strong case could be made for getting
a SpaceBall.  They can be picked up on eBay pretty reasonably.  Look for
the FLX 4000 series.  I would avoid the new 5000's as they are a bit too
axial and sensitive (they are working on changing this with drivers though).

Since you are looking for "buttons", you won't want the 3000 series as they
don't have very many.  Logitech has recently released a keyboard with a spaceball
built in.  It supports defining "40 keyboard buttons", whatever that means.
Check their web site at:

It appears the computer you posted this from has the Date two months off. You might want
to check it.
