Taper extrude problem

Dear All,
I want to have a taper cut both sides.

Taper is coming both sides I want taper only on one side.
Is it possible I do not want to add one more feature.
Also I do not want any other feature than extrude due to some limitations.

PLEASE SUGGEST SOME WAY......

As JD would say " do you have a file or picture available of what you are trying to achieve?"

Wasn't this clear to you Rob?

What possible reason would you have to limit your features to Extrude only? Seems like you are making your life more difficult for no reason.

If A=C-B
and B=C-A
and C=A+B
What does D=???

Do the cut without a taper, then apply a face draft.

Ok,So the sketch plane is in between the part.
I want to to have a cut which is through all.
I want taper cut on one side of plane & straight cut on other side in one feature. Is it possible?? That was a simple question.

Not by using just the extrude command. You would have to do a cut and then a fact draft if you only want on side to have a taper. Or you would have to do two separate extrusions using the same sketch by sharing it.

What you ask is not possible in one feature only...

But again why are you limiting yourself to using only one single feature?

There are many ways to do what you want but none in one mouse click/feature

Maybe, can you post the file?

>That was a simple question.
It might have a simple one feature answer. Can you post the file.

How can you make that determination without seeing the file?

Unfortunately I can not post the file.
But I got the answer that I can not do it in Inventor with one feature.I have the limitations of the standard parameters so I can not have two features.
May be I will try with other program.

Can't you make up a simple sample file that exhibits the behavior you want in your proprietary file.

>But I got the answer...
I can think of at least two ways in Inventor depending on the geometry.

>Maybe I will try with other program.
What program would that be?

I agree, a simple file would not break confidentiality and if you could use another feature other than extrude you should still be able to use existing default parameters. Such as a Sweep for instance.

If you use equations, I don't see why standard parameters would force you to use one feature. Every dimension could be a function of one standard parameter if need be.

You probably see a decent benefit from posting a simple example.

Will one of the face draft options allow it to "stop" ? By default it will draft the entire cut.

He's got a plane that defines where the taper will end. He will probably have to do a split to the surface.

because you can't extrude both ways from a sketch plane and taper only one side (per the OP's question stated above) in inventor today...
Thats how the determination is made.. No file necessary assuming the question was stated correctly.

If I understood you explanation, will one of these do?

That will require an add'l feature/step which he's insistent against having.

It will work though....
