Tank Head sheet metal flat pattern

I am creating a two piece head for a tank. I would like to create a flat pattern for the plamsa table.

So far this is what I have been able to get to.

When I create the flat pattern it looks nothing like the general shape of the folded part.

Advice on how I am making it, or other ways to make it would be very helpful.

I am also using Inventor 2014.

Thanks

Hi!

These kind of geometry is impossible to Flat Pattern adequately because this is not a bend, but a plastic deformation.
Inventor does not process plastic deformations. These kind of parts are produced by stamping, not to bending or press break.

You have to do it "mannually" adding the remaining flange to the "half moon" geometry in 2D drawing.

As CarlosC said, it's plastic deformation and Inventor won't (yet) do it.

Head on over here to see another method that may help make your flat pattern.
