Taking Inventor into MasterCAM

I have a client here who has had difficulty getting his models into
MasterCAM. He says the thing "blows apart" making the translation.

Have any of you had any issues utilizing Inventor files for CAM work? Are
there any considerations in design or pitfalls to watch for?
What I'm seeing is a simple investment casting that shouldn't be having
problems so I'm grasping at straws and looking for clues so I might be able
to give him one and hlep out a little.

Thanks

We just finished up a job using direct import of an .ipt featuring a
swept surface into MasterCAM v9.1.

This was a our first attempt of using v9's direct .ipt import with and
I'm pretty impressed with the outcome.
The .ipt was translated directly into a solid body and machining
operations were performed with that solid body then used to drive the
toolpath.

Is your client attempting to import .ipt directly into MasterCAM or is
the client using a neutral, intermediate file format?

It sounds like they are using intermediate files. The client actually came
here to get his product done in Pro because of these "issues". Too bad, it
sounds like I could have saved him some trouble......had I been working here
a few months earlier. 😉

Thanks for the reply.
