Switching from inventor 2012 to inventor 2014 professional ultimate license.

Respected Autodesk Team,

At present we just upgrade our 2 inventor 2012 proffesional license to 3 inventor 2014 proffesional ultimate license.

The project which we are currently working on 2012, is it safe to switch the project work in new 2014 .

Is any project data will get loss while migrating/switching from 2012 to 2014.

We want assurance that by switching from inventor 2012 to inventor 2014 , will not loss/affect any project, which was created/worked in 2012 version.

Or should we finish that our particular project in 2012 and then start new project in 2014 version?

At present we are upgrading our license file on server from 2012 to 2014.

So can it possible to work on 2012(1 license) and 2014(2 license), after placing new 2014 license file on server?

Waiting for your earliest reply.

Thanks and Regards ,

There is no special settings for you to migration the project created by 2012 to 2014.

You could pack and go the 2012 project, and then open it with Inventor 2014. There should no any issue if you have same project settings, especially for the materials library and the appearance library, and other options settings.

As you know, there are some differences between Inventor 2012 and 2014 files. 2014 could open 2012 files, but switch is unable, Inv2012 is unable to open files created by 2014. From this point, for safty, you should finish your paticular project in 2012 wholely and then migrate to Inv2014.

Yes, you could combine Inventor 2012 and 2014 license together at one server. You could follow this link to combine licnese.

Hi s.gholap,

In addition to Yong Jing's guidance, you may want to check the following WikiHelp article for more details about Data Migration:
