hi,
I made a spiral using the 2D equation curve. The sweep command works with small profiles using the curve as path. However, the required width of profile fails with an intersection error. The attached file demonstrates the problem, it should be possible to use at least a 6.1 mm diameter profile.
For simple spirals, i have success with the helix command, but we need to apply a wave pattern along the path. I'm new to inventor.

First,
If your sketch plane isn't perpendicular to the beginning of the sweep path - you don't really know the dimensions of the cross-section of the result. Think of cutting a cylinder at a slight angle - the profile isn't circular.
See if attached gives you some ideas to solve the problem.

See the attached sweep_problem_GC.ipt. All I did was replace your full-circle profile with two 180-degree arcs.
