Sweep along a curve

Good morning. I seem to be missing something in my sweep.I am attempting to create an eliptical end on a tank. Sketch 12 is the outer edge of the tank, this would be the path if I am correct. Sketch 13 as the profile returnd a message that it intersects the wire axie. Sketch 14 as the profile returns a self intersecting surface.

What is the correct step to take?

Thank you

Jim

You profile shape has to change to follow this method. This would work fine if the tank was round but with an elliptical shape, your profile has to change as it follows the path.

I am thinking, possibly a Loft with three profiles, to get 1/2 of the shape and then mirror. You would need to edit Sketch 13 to be only 1/2 of the shape as your starting profile, Sketch 13 would be your mid profile shape and you would require Sketch 15 would be your ending profile and would be the other 1/2 of Sketch 12.

Do I then leave it undiminished? Or is there a better way to allow it to follow the ellipse?

edit: removing dimensions gives me the same errors.

I edited my answer, possible using a Loft as the shape/profile needs to change.

Pretty easy to do as Loft (see attached).

Yep, I was using a screwdriver to turn a bolt. The loft is the feature I should have been using.

THank you Gentlemen.

JD,

Can you explain to me why my model shows the sketch lines for the loft and your's doesn't. Other than you know what you are doing of course. Smiley Wink

Thank you
