Subsequent Editing of Pattern with parametic number of instances

I am attempting to create a parametric saddle assemby to reuse for a wide variety of horizontal vessels.

I would like to make the number of ribs on the saddle parametric (amoung many other things of course).

Problem is, if number of ribs increases, then subsequent trimming of rib height to vessel diameter becomes undefined.

Is the trick here just to make sure the number of ribs is some maximum number, then always use less, or am I missing something fundamental?

Thanks
John

Are you using iLogic?

You didn't list your version of IV.
