Does come with a basic version of Anysis FEA that will work on single part
ipt files only. We use Algor, but there are a number of packages out there
depending on your budget.

Hi, rudyrangel

As Blair said, we have a simplified FEA version of ANSYS, which is included
in Inventor Professional Modules.
For some basic information, you could visit here
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?id=5193606&siteID=123112&preview=1
There're some web pages and pdf files which might help you to understand the
product.

Thanks,
-Richard

ANSYS Designspace for Inventor allows the user to perform FEA analysis on single part and assembly files. The results are limited to the linear stress/strain range of the material, plastic deformation results will not be valid. The software is very easy to use, loads inside of Inventor and allows design optimization and iteration. It also has thermal analysis. Note that AIP has a "slimmed-down" version of Designspace.

you also could use mechanical desktop for it
make a sat file and open in mdt etc.

I've also used Designspace and it is very nice looking. It also is very user friendly for those new to FEA. A good feature is the optimization worksheets that can plot test results as you vary parameters, or automatically vary the parameters through a range of values. If you are designing with conventional engineering materials and wanting to quickly analyze and optimize your designs, this is a good package IMHO.

The command is amfea3d.
You can acces the feature through the Content 3D toolbar.
Its very slow to generate a mesh anything more than simple shapes, but the
results are accurate enough.
I've compared it with the results from Cosmosworks on one project.

I like MSC visualNastran. It makes a link in inventor so when u have opened an assembly or a part u can export directly into visualNastran. It works pretty well and its easy to use the basics of FEA.
Only big assemblies are very tough for your computer.
