I am attempting to run analysis on my part to determine stresses and displacement on my Shaft. I am applying a moment couple at one end and want to support the Shaft on the journals, fixing at one end and allowing the other journal free rotation with fixed radial displacement and (either) free/fixed axial movement. What type of constraint(s) should I apply at End "A"?

Hi Sonnerka,
Well I would try the "Pin" Constriant.
That would make the most sense to me.

Thanks James, I see from your postings that you are a great contributor to this forum! You are correct.... nevermind. Moment is zero about the axis, therefore it IS FREE TO ROTATE. I was able to see this once I reached down, grabbed ahold of my shoulders, and pulled down hard.
LOL
Well Sometimes I have good ideas and sometimes I make mistakes. (Cough... Ahem... I hate lbf... LOL)
If it helped I'm glad. 🙂

Is that how you roll? (Pun Fully Intended 🙂 , normally I grab my knees and tuck in... )

LOL,
No worries we all have moments like that.
Never be ashamed to ask a question, no one knows everything.
