Hi,
My model is ~1-2MB and I'm trying to 3D print it. I am trying to export it as a .stl file but no matter how I try doing it (going through the print piece flow or export flow), the file is either 84 bytes or 0KB.
Is this a known issue, or am I doing something worng?
I've tried restarting the program/my environment.
Thanks!
What are the stl settings? (Options button before hitting save)
Are you sure this isn't a Windows thing where it might not be updating the filesize.. Have you tried right clicking on the stl file in explorer and going to the properties to check file size.. Or at least refreshing the directory listing.
Up to date on Inventor service packs or applicable hotfixes?
No, I've doublechecked. It's zero bytes.
My settings are mm's, I've tried ascii and binary, and all different quality settings.
Any other suggestions?
If I try doing other parts though it seemingly works. Could there be something wrong with my file? I don't have a red cross for anything...

If it works for others then your part obviously has a problem..
Can you post the part for others to look at?
I can't make the file publically available, because of its commercial nature. However, it looks like when I preview it says it has 0 facets. Is that any help? I'll PM the file to you though.
Hi connorzwick,
Thanks for your report this issue here!
What's your Inventor version and operating system you use ? Do you mind to send you model to Hongyuan.Li@autodesk.com for investigation ?

Thanks for the reply! Actually, I just seemingly fixed it by randomly removing features until it would generate. Once I had isolated the feature that gave the error, I just redid that one and it worked. Thanks again!
You are welcome and glad to hear that !
If you meet anyother problem about Inventor in your work please just report in this forum and we will monitor it.
Have a good day !
