Stiffener Ribs

Help! Can anyone tell me how to add stiffening ribs
to sheet metal parts?

Thanks, Joseph

you could make a weldment, and add them there. or just make a workplane in the center of your part, just offset from the material thickness (so it's in the middle, if that's where you want it), and the do a face extrude. if you do this though, it will not show up in the flat pattern. did i answer you question? -Joe

There is a formed rib iFeature on the cbliss.com site. It is about 3/4 of
the way down the page.

Almost, I'm not sure how to get this to work over a
90 deg. bend though.

Thanks,  Joseph

And be sure to read the instructions provided. It is most assuredly one of
the hardest iFeatures to place and control the first few times you try using
it. It has been a very useful addition to my sheetmetal tool library
however now that I have learned to use it.

Hi again, I tried this however I guess I just don't know what I am
doing. It will only let me pick one plane and it rotates the rib 90 deg.
to plane I want.

Thanks, Joe

Reread the instructions. You can control the angle at insertion or later
with a dialog box. It takes some experimentation to recognize what exactly
the instruction are referring to. Keep trying, once you get the hang of it,
it is really not as difficult to use as it seems.
