When converting STEP models to Inventor, the new import interface in Inventor 2016 appears to use templates other than the ones specified in the Project File or Application Options. iProperties are not being populated from our customized templates to the newly created Inventor models. This worked in 2014 (we skipped 2015).
We use Vault across many different groups in our organization and we carry an iProperty in the template files that is read by Vault and works with the Assignment Rules feature. We tell Vault to read a specific property and depending on the value, auto-categorize the models accordingly. When there is no property, we tell Vault to default to our Mechanical Design category (as this avoides creating a lot of date on the Base category). In some cases the user creating the conversion is not in Mechanical Design and does have access to that category, so without this iProperty, the files disappear from their view upon bringing them into Vault.
These groups point at unique templates that carry unique values in this iProperty.
I hope I'm just missing something and there's a buried setting I can access somewhere, otherwise I'll have to default Inventor models without a property to hit the Base category. This may introduce another headache, as many designers are not vigilant about categorizing files.
Thanks,
Andrew
