Standard Part saves as Sheet Metal Part (2009)

When I go to save a Standard Part the Panel Bar morphs from Part Features
into Sheet Metal Features. When the part is inported into an assembly it
comes in as a Sheet Metal Part.
From what I can tell all my settings look okay. I'm tapped.
Thanks,
Bob

Are you starting from a sheet metal template, converting to sheet metal
features, or using a template created from a sheet metal template?

What version of Inventor?

Starting with the Standard ipt. template, and at no time swtching from Part
Features to Sheet Metal Features.

Sorry, but I could not duplicate your problem using your template.

Collar2.ipt was created by copy and paste of the features into a new file
created from your template. When I saved it, it remained a standard, not
sheet metal part.

Collar3.ipt was created from scratch using your template. Again, on save,
the remains a standard part.

I also noticed that creating a new part from your template results in
Sketch2 as the initial sketch, creating extrusion2 as your first feature.
Clearly, someone has messed with this template.

Thanks for trying Dennis. Just to make sure I'm not crazy I started a new
part in the Standard template with the same results. As soon as I hit Save
it jumped to a Sheet Metal part. It's a head scratcher. Oh yeah, it does not
work the other way. A Sheet Metal part stays a Sheet Metal part.
