Spruce Texture for Douglas Fir problems

About to create some 2x4 lumber in Inventor with Fir or Spruce texture.  Why does the default texture have holes in it in shaded view?  It also has some screwy noise settings that I have removed.

Virtual termites perhaps?

This is kind of strange.  It shows up in the Shaded visual styles, but not in Realistic.  Cutouts are not turned on for this appearance, so it isn't that.  I don't know what it does for you, but on my computer if I remove the noise, I lose the grain of the wood, and the holes become like grooves instead of going all the way through the part.

There is a Bump setting, but unchecking it doesn't get rid of the holes.  Unchecking it and removing the noise does, but then also loses the wood grain effect.

Not much help I'm afraid, but at least I can confirm that you aren't the only one that sees the problem.

I see it too, not really sure what the problem is. I'll try and push it to a Support Level.

Thanks for confirming.

I remove the noise and select the jpg as the texture to keep the grain but the holes remain.

Thanks for posting this. I can reproduce this issue and have logged a report with development. I will circle back with more information as it becomes available.

Thanks,
