Spring Ends

Good morning,

I have included a picture and a file of a spring. The dimensions on the IPT are good, but I cannot figure out how to get the end transitions the way I want, per the picture. I tried doing a simple extrude just to get my length but end up with sharp corners that I dont like and dont want the spring shop to replicate like that...

Any help would be grand!

tks!

I probably completely messed up your spring's values, but is this what you're trying to do?

You can control the flat ends of a spring on the last tab in the coil command.

Hi Niels,

Nope that is exactly what I was looking to do. I will dig into the file to see how you managed it.

Appreciate the help, and quick response! 🙂

tks!

Ok, quick overview:
Changed type to pitch&height and set the height to the distance that you had in your extrusion.
(you might want to consider doing the extrusion differently so it stays on target if you'd change the height.)

I set both flat ends to the same values, 90 deg transition and 200 deg flat angle.
You can fiddle with those values to get a result you're happy with.
