Spread Sheet Parameters

I have an assembly where the parts are being driven by Parameters using a
Linked Spread Sheet. I have updated some of the parameters, 5 parts updated
correctly but 2 are being stubborn and refuse to update to any of the new
dimensions. One of the parts was started in 5.3 with parameters, but
completely redone in 6 using the Spread Sheet the other was done in 7 using
the Spread Sheet from the start. Any ideas on how to fix this problem,
would be greatly appreciated.

Without seeing the part/excel sheet...

Are any of the parameter cells yellow in the part file?
Are the units messed up in the Excel sheet?

Post the part/excel sheet and we'll have a look.

You posted in customization instead of iCF but I got them anyway.

Updated correctly for me. A few things I noticed. You should use units in
all parameters, most of them are missing.

What version and SP are you using?

Sorry about that wrong posting , iv7 sp1, OS W2000 sp3. I didn't even
notice that I hadn't added the units on most lines. What good is putting in
the column if you don't fill it out. I filled in all the units and opened
the file again, still have both sides wrong height and depth.

Another thought. Try Rebuild All from the tools menu. That sometimes
relinks everything.

Also if you have a very slow network you will see parts not updating. When
I get lazy and work off my USB drive I sometimes see parts that are linked
not updating. Move it to my local and all work well.

Hope this helps.

I have mentioned this before but be sure to check the version of excel you are using is for Win2k and not XP. I was doing this and found the same problem occuring on non specific files, or at least I could find no common relationships. Let me know if you find anthing tho.

hmm...
When I was having problems I was most likely working on USB drive, as I usually do and never considered that might be the problem. Hoever it was never a problem after reinstalling an older Office 2000 version of excell rather then the Office XP that came on the machine.

Running Excel 97 here fine, so I guess you probably won't have to upgrade
too soon!

The older versions work fine its the XP version, Office XP 2003 or 2002, that I had problems with.

Is it correct that Excell needs to be installed before Inventor is installed.?
I checked for documentation about Excell and there is nothing. The only info is on the web site under system requiements

Additional Requirements

Internet connection for web downloads
Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6 or later
Microsoft® Excel 97 (2000 or XP preferred) for iparts, ifeatures, threads, and spreadsheet driven designs

It would be practical for this info to be on the box or on the first page of the user manual. There have been a few occasions on this forum where people did not even know they had to have Excell installed.

my 2 cents...

I still maintain there should be a message in bold print on the box saying that MSIE and Excell are needed to run Inventor. The real cost of Inventor is then us$5000 plus whatever MSOffice costs. To save costs some design offices are not running msoffice on every single computer.

I just checked the other SW also requires Excell xp, so I guess this would only really be for someone new to the field of solid modelling.

Not having that problem as it is loaded
locally, so I should not have network lag. Also drives are all scsii, so speed
should be ok, cpu a bit slow P3 800, mem at 512k. Also I'm using office 200 not
XP.

I was having this problem with
only one part that has 2 instances in the assy all others updated fine. Also I
had updated this assy before with no problems, all parts had new
dimensions.  I did finely get it to update the part, I replaced the three
dimensions on part with numbers.  Then I deleted the spreadsheet saved the
file then relinked the spreadsheet. Finley I went back in and replaced the hard
dim's with the equations again now all updates correctly. All I can think off is
got a glitch maybe when I brought it into IV7.
