I am replicating an axle strictly for visual representation.
I am having trouble with a few extremely simple tasks, I learnt how to use them back in 2005 when I was in college, but haven't really required them since then. using the image below, I want to removed the yellow extrusion up to the red circular edge, I assumed split tool would do this, but I can't figure it out.
And I don't require this but i would like to show the splines on the ends to "feather" out to the round like the actual axle does. (this is just for aesthics) I have the extrusion done, But I can't figure out feature is requied to do this, loft? or Sweep?
My part is attached, but it is in 2014.
Thanks for any help!

For removal of yellow piece:
1. create a sketch on the YZ Origin Plane
2. Project the Yellow Geometry
3. Cut Extrude Using the To Option and select the Red Face.
4. Mirror the Extrusion abote the YZ Origin Plane
See my part attached. I am sure there is a much simpler way....
I see how you used extrude to cut to the round face, you have to select "TO" on the extents menu, I was wondering how to extrude to a non planer face. Thanks!!

For the splines, did you use the spline generator form DAcc? It replicates the cutter that forms the splne.
I just created a sketch, extruded, then used circular pattern, didnt want to get too deep into design, since this is just a visual aid. I don't really need to show the fade of the splines, was just curious on how one does it,
By your answer, I am assuming that in the DAcc, there is an option to have this applied automatically??
Thanks!
What if you added two fillets to the extrusions before you circular pattern them? Not sure if that is what you mean or if that looks acceptable. Try adjusting my fillets to get a smoother transition.

This will give me what I need, thanks, never thought of using fillet for some reason...
Thanks!
Not a problem! Just glad to give back to the AD community! You did, afterall, help me with my Drawing Template
