Special Thread Call out

How do I get a custom thread text (like 1/8 IPS) amongst the thread choices
in the hole creation dialog?

We use these wierd 1/8 IPS & 1/4 IPS pipe thread sizes in the lighting
industry & it's got to read out that way.

Thanks

You can add a new thread type to the Thread.xls file.

Download http://www.cbliss.com/inventor/Materials/bsp.zip and copy this
sheet into your thread.xls file.

You can modify it to meet your IPS thread format (what is this one exactly?
I've heard of a lot of thread forms but not this one)

Sean,

Do I append the new info it right underneath everything else? Does it matter
in what order I position it relative to what's already in the vanilla file?

The 1/8IPS NPS (Nat. Pipe Size?) standard. If you 've ever taken a part a
table lamp, the threaded tubing used is always either 1/8IPS (3/8" OD) or
1/4IPS (1/2" OD). I don't where to find the particulars on these threads
yet. I m not sure if they correspond exactly to regular threads like 3/8-27
(closest one to 1/8IPS). Do you have a Machinest's Handbook handy? Might be
in there.

Thanks!
Gary

Add it to a new tab in the file. The tab name will be the name displayed
in the hole dialogue.
