PowerPoint.

Yep. Take a bunch of snapshots of the part in the same position and turn on
features one by one.

Use powerpoint to fade in these new images (which if placed on top of one
another will look like the same image). Then as you introduce each new
image add the sound effects.

Did a marketing guy put you up to this?

well i can do that, but I want to be able to have it happen in Inventor. What i can't find is how the mate feature references the connect wav file in the Bin folder. If i could figure that out I might be able to create sounds for other features. Any ideas?

The best I can think of is to set up your sound effects to run off of hot keys. Run Inventor and when you want the sound effect press the hot key combination for that sound. You would want to set up the sound to run in a small and unobtrusive audio program.

stupid question but how do i set up hot keys, is there a directions sheet some where?

One way is to make a shortcut to the sound file, edit the properties of the shortcut and enter in a key combination in the "Shortcut key" area. Another option is to download a 3rd party "hot key" program to basically do the same thing but with greater flexibility.

It's hardcoded in Inventor.

"hard coded"???? is there a set-up keys option some where like on PC games? key config??

Hard coded as in you can't change it. You could use a 3rd party program as
Mech suggested but the triggers that make the sound fire when you mate are
not accessible. You won't be able to do with within Inventor and with only
Inventor.

i can change the sound of the mate, as long as it is still called connect, is this just a stupid thought or has anyone else thought of doing this, I guess I'm bored

Might start off with using the GNR song "patience" for the sound file.

People have been changing this since it was added.
I like the Homer Simpson "Doh" myself. But machine gun fire is a close
second.

I'm sure if you search the 5.3 NG you'll find
several discussions.

Sure you can rename XXX.wav to connect.wav and
rename and rename and rename.  How important is this ability?  I think
the PP option would be faster, but until we benched marked it I wouldn't know
for sure.  With the PP narrate instead of speaking you could make the
welding sound or whatever you wanted....  You could even paste in an AVI
and synchronize the sound as the
AVI played.  Possiblities are
endless...
