Smooth rail curves

What does it take to get a smooth rail curve? I have something as simple as a half arc, and yet it is not smooth. Why?

can you post the file? Do you have one half arc, or a chain of half arcs?

It is a file that I posted a couple of days ago. You actually answered the post, and made mention about connecting 2 arcs, with a spline, and adding a smooth constraint.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the proper oblong shaped dome that I need.
Here it is agian, in case you forgot.

I asked that question to get a better undetstanding of how it pertains to any and all type of curved rails. Meaning, when are suppose to know what will pass for smooth, and what will not?

Are you talking about Sketch34 and Sketch35? I'm at a loss as to what you
are trying to accomplish. You're talking about a proper oblong shaped dome?
Where is it? Can you sketch out what you are trying to accomplish on paper,
scan and post it?

I know, I have tried this so many ways that I am confused as to which file to post. Let me start fresh.
If you look at the part with the 2 arcs as the top. Imagine a dome that would follow the curvature of the arcs. And also fitting flush to the edges of the existing part, (which would later be filleted.)
Josh did an example, but the surface was rippled near each of the 4 corners.

Here is a sample of what I am trying to do properly.
Same concept, but if you look closely at the point where the (dome) connects to the part, its not a true fit.
I cant place a fillet on it properly.
