Is there a way to make win7 'remember' the thumbnails for inventor files? I generally have large numbers of IPTs in a folder and each time I open the folder in Win7 I have to watch them regenerate, line by line. When the folder is opened, only the visible icons are generated and as soon as I scroll down I have to watch the newly visible thumbnails generate.
I know this sounds trivial but I use the tumbnails to quickly locate files (I can't memorise 100+ part numbers but I can recognise the parts visually). Having to wait for them to generate as I scroll down makes the process annoyingly slow.
Hi,
Usually when the thumbnail regeneration process takes time to be performed, it could be caused by the complexity and number of file to be previewed.
I am not aware of any setting in the Inventor registry keys that may improve the situation, but I have found googling it an interesting article that maybe could help:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/10794-thumbnail-cache-enable-disable.html
I checked per the article and my thumbnail-cache was already enabled. To be doubly sure I ran the enable reg patch.
No difference: If I browse to a folder with only five files in it (IPTs), the thumbnails generate one at a time. Then if I browse up level and then back, the thumbnails are gone and have to regenerate.
Not an issue with five files but 1000+ takes about a minute of careful scrolling to get all the offscreen thumbnails to generate.
