How can I skip desired instances a in a pattern?

Apply the pattern, then expand the pattern in the browser and supress the instance/s you don't want

This appears to work for any instance except the originating one....

Yep, I wish there was more freedom in controlling pattern instances.

Too bad you can't do it from the pattern feature like you can in Solidworks. I've got a ton of holes and a good many to skip as well and its pretty painful to find the right hole to suppress. Not too bad but certainly not 1 click per hole.
