Sketch Geometry in idw Files

In reference to the following drawing notes procedure from Autodesk:

http://images.autodesk.com/emea_nw_w_main/files/multiple_drawing_notes.pdf

The Tip Box following Step 1 mentions the use of sketch geometry, This referenced geometry (construction lines?) is apparently not visible when the sketched symbols are inserted into a drawing. The Construction button and the Style pull-down box are not available in sketch mode within idw files. How are these referenced lines made invisible when the sketch symbols are inserted?

Note: The above procedure references Inventor 2008, I am currently using Inventor 2009, 32-Bit Edition, SP1.

In the idw sketch environmment there is a a toggle button for 'sketch only', which is the equivalent to construction lines in parts.
