Simplifying Part Causes Unexpected Results

When I simplify this part (merge all of the assembly components into one .ipt part file), i get unexpected results.

The object reappears, but, a lot of the detail is missing. Is there a workaround to get the exact appears that i started with? or am i doing something wrong? Help!

Thanks,

You only send the iam, need the ipt's as well. When you say simplify, you mean using:

- commands from the Simplify tab ?

- Shrinkwrap ?

- Derive ?

If you do Shrinkwrap make sure you don't have "remove geometry by visibility" and "hole patching" on.

here is the original file.

I need it simplified into two parts. the entire drill, and the drill bit.

I am not sure if the issue lies with the IGES, Step, or other translated file type you used to create the Inventor files from. If this was the original to where you started there might not be anything that can be done to get a desirable result. These formats can be suspect.
