Sheetmetal Corner Flat Profile

Hi,

I have having trouble finding the correct angled work plane to achieve an external and internal corner for the attached

profile section. Can anyone help?

Thanks

You design intent is  not clear.

Sketch1 is not fully constrained?

You could do everything you have done so far with 4 lines and a Contoured Flange feature.

Check attached reproduction of your part.  Are these really the dimensions you want?

More information is needed.

Thanks for the reply JDMather.

Yes this is the profile i am using. Material 2mm Aluminium.

What i am trying to achieve is an external and internal corner at 90 degrees.

I am having trouble with my work plane at the desired angle.

Can you sketch something that looks sort of similar?  I'm not sure what you are after.
I will be surprised if the solution actually requires the creation of any workplanes.

what i believe i require is a work plane in the back view of my attachment.

Then i need to cut it at 45 degree angle.

How do i go about getting this work plane angle to cut.

Many thanks

Hi!

I Think nobody it's understanding what do you want to achieve, therefore, nobody can help you. As JD Said, can you post a picture or something to help us to understand?

I made a guess at what you are trying to achieve.  I'm thinking you want to sweep your profile to make a outside or inside corner.  If so, I've found it easiest to start with a swept surface model -  - see attached.  Use the surfaces to build up your sheet metal faces.  In some cases it works best just to thicken the surfaces, in others it's best to use the surfaces as sketch planes and draw each face. Or some other combination of sheet metal features.  At least by starting with a surface model you have something that defines the design intent.

Many thanks this is exactly what i am trying to achieve.

I will be manufacturing the corner in two halfs, so my objective is to find the flat pattern of each half of the corner.

Is sweep the best way to achieve the flat pattern?

Could i use work planes and cut?

Thanks again

If you are going to manufacture at two parts, then

I would extrude the open line profile as a surface body.

Trim the angle with an angled line (no extra workplanes needed.

Fillet the bends with appropriate radii (internal or external).

Thicken the Quilt.
