Hi,
i have drawn inside sheet metal part 2mm thick U-channel 60x40mm (2 flanges) - 2meters long.
- added the above part inside assembly
- copied the above part and made it 1 meter long
- copied again the part and made it 0.5 meter long
- constrained together as 1x0.5m rectangular framework
Question:
- i am not able to miter inside assembly, shall i do 45 degree corners inside the part?
- is it a good excersize to copy the part and change to the dimension i want?
many thanks,
Bedros
Where (when) would it be mitered in the real world? (before or after assembly)
It sounds like iPart or Frame Generator could be used (if you need to do this frequently).

You can edit the part in the context of the assembly - but you need to make sure are creating a part level feature rather than an assembly level feature.

can i add or customize a sheet metal profile part inside Design>Insert Frame? or they are just built in and cannot be editted?
You can add your own profiles in Frame Generator. Not sure though if this is appropriate for your design or not. More information would be needed. A U-channel profile could easily be done in Frame Generator, but then what are you doing with it? iParts might be another option. iLogic? iAssemblies?
